The Slack Mobile team owns the end-to-end mobile experience across iOS and Android, ensuring users can stay connected, productive, and informed wherever they work.
My work spanned across multiple product areas within the mobile team, including search, notifications, and design systems to improve information discovery, user control, and platform consistency for millions of Slack users.
Unreads
Slack can be a source of overwhelming communication, making it difficult for users to keep up with incoming messages and prioritize their work. I prototyped and designed a new gesture-based experience that enabled users to quickly consume, organize, and triage messages from a single place.
Files and Link Unfurls
Slack supports a wide variety of file and link unfurls, but they lacked visual consistency on mobile and were not fully represented in the component library. I expanded Slack’s design system by creating scalable unfurl components for iOS and Android, establishing a cohesive visual language across platforms and improving efficiency for designers working on new unfurl types.
Search Filters
Search is one of Slack’s most critical workflows, helping users quickly find conversations, files, and knowledge across their organization. I extended Slack’s search filtering experience from desktop to mobile, creating a more consistent cross-platform experience and helping users find relevant information faster.
Notification Troubleshooting
Users often missed Slack notifications without knowing why, typically due to OS-level settings overriding in-app preferences. I designed a notification “health check” that proactively surfaces misconfigurations and helps users resolve them, improving notification reliability for affected users.
Widgets
As Slack’s mobile experience grew in complexity, users needed faster ways to access relevant information and workflows. During an internal hackathon, I partnered with engineers to design and prototype three iOS and Android widgets that surfaced timely content and provided quick entry points into Slack.
